Petzl ELite Compact Head Torch is designed for any situation. "Petzl is a venerable brand in the climbing world, and its reputation is deserved. Here is no different. I own several of these.

What you get, in a very, very small package (indeed it even comes with it's own case, that has a belt-loop and is well-nigh waterproof!) is a head/arm band with a pull on it for sizing, and a light that provides a constant medium-power white (map reading, etc.), constant high-power strobed white (torch functionality), constant red, and strobed red light options from its 3 LEDs. It is bright, believe me.

The light itself is mounted on a single ball joint connecting the base of the unit to the base of the mount. This enables easy changes of directionality of the light. The on/off switch is actually a staged lever, that levers through the possible lighting choices in an immediately understood way, and can be used without dismounting the light and with gloves on.

Cyclists take note: buy two of these, and direct one to your front in white strobe, and one to your rear in red strobe, and you have complied with UK cycling law, and made your night ride a lot safer!

Simple, small, effective, and I would argue inexpensive for what you get."
